Norridgewock Fly-In

Though the colors seemed to have peaked before our arrival, the scenery around Norridgewock was still beautiful.

Wow was it cold this weekend! With freezing temperatures, everyone had to drag out their full winter gear to stay warm.

Yvonne from MA came all the way to Norridgewock for an introductory flight. She was brave enough to hang out with us all day until the winds died down for a flight and Rob was kind enough to take her up (pictured below). Needless to say, Yvonne is hooked and hopes to be in her own plane in the near future.

Congratulaions to Randy and Mike!

Congratulations to Randy for obtaining his CFI rating! It's finally official and to mark the occasion, Randy flew out to Norridgewock to endorse Mike for his final check ride for the Sport Pilot license. The picture above was taken during the check ride and below, Randy is kissing the ground after making it back alive. (seems to be a tradition among this group even though they're all safe pilots)
Proud pilots: Randy's first endorsement and Mike is one step closer to getting his Sport Pilot license. The following day he completed all the necessary steps and now has his official license. Congratulations guys!

Birthday Flight

Christine from central Maine received an unusual gift from her son for her 60th birthday - a flight in a PPC! John flew her around southern Maine early Sunday morning and they enjoyed some spectacular yet cool weather with great scenery. Christine was thrilled by the gift and loved the experience. Below are some pictures of their flight.

Changes to the Fly-In Schedule

Due to soaring gas prices, we have altered the schedule for the fly-ins to accommodate the MPA members. We will not be having the fly-in at Cyr's Field in Presque Isle this weekend (10/10-13) and have canceled the Bethel fly-in scheduled for 10/24-26.
Instead, we will hold the final fly-in for 2008 at Wayne's Field in Fairfield from October 17-19.
We hope that this central location will allow all of you to come out and share in the fun. We're sure to have some beautiful scenery with the foliage this year, so come out and join us!
For more information on the schedule changes, check out http://www.mainepowerchutes.org/

Wiscasset Fly-In

Terri and Dave, the lovely new owners of the Ocean Point Aviation in Wiscasset, Maine, held their first annual fly-in last weekend. There was quite a turnout and they had tasty meals for sale throughout the day.

Although the weather didn't cooperate for our sport most of the weekend, there were many fixed wings coming and going all day long. Some MPA members managed to fly early Saturday morning before the winds picked up. It was cold up there, but well worth it!

We look forward to joining Ocean Point Aviation at their event next year!

You can check out their site at: http://www.oceanpointaviation.com/

Jerry takes to the sky as John completes his preflight check.

We were in Wiscasset, Maine - not Kansas - but for a while there it looked like the house blew over on both Kevin and John (see their legs under both sides of the camper?)!!They were actually doing what the guys do best when the winds are too strong to fly- fixing up odds and ends on the rigs.
